Board and Committees
Role of the Board
The four main functions of the Board are: to ensure that the body delivers its functions in accordance with Ministers’ policies and priorities; to provide strategic leadership; to ensure financial stewardship; and to hold the Chief Executive and senior management team to account.
In line with good governance, certain responsibilities are delegated to Board Committees to assist the Board in carrying out its functions.

The purpose of the Audit and Risk Committee is to ensure that:

Internal and external audit arrangements are planned and a well-defined programme of work is in place setting out these arrangements

Systems are in place to ensure compliance with all legal obligations and regulatory requirements and that appropriate follow up action in respect of non-compliance or fraud

Systems of internal control and arrangements for the management of business risk are robust.
