Scottish Government post-school education and skills reform
Scottish Government has set out key reforms and actions for post-school education and skills.
The programme of reforms includes developing a new national funding model for all colleges and universities, as well as apprenticeships and training.
Scottish Government will also lead skills planning, with the new national qualifications body overseeing all publicly funded post-school qualifications except degrees.
The actions are part of the initial priorities set out in the Scottish Government-led publication of Purpose and Principles for Post-School Education and Skills.
The report is part of Scottish Government’s programme of reform across the education and lifelong learning system and follows publication of the Review of the Skills Delivery Landscape and the Hayward Review.
The skills landscape must fit the needs of the people of Scotland so that everyone can fulfil their potential and contribute to our society, economy and place in the wider world.

Minister for Higher and Further Education
Skills Development Scotland Chair Frank Mitchell said: “SDS has long been an advocate for changes to the learning and skills system to deliver the best results for the people and businesses of Scotland.
“SDS remains committed to working constructively with Scottish Government and partners to realise this ambition.
“Maintaining a focus on the needs of Scotland’s people and businesses will be crucial throughout this process of change.”
Higher and Further Education Minister Graeme Dey said that to meet the challenges of the future requires all elements of the lifelong education and skills sector to work together as one single system.
Mr Dey said: "The skills landscape must fit the needs of the people of Scotland so that everyone can fulfil their potential and contribute to our society, economy and place in the wider world."
