New location for the career service in Hamilton
Residents in Hamilton will soon find their local careers advisers in a new venue
Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is changing location as part of a drive to help more people through closer partnership working.
SDS advisers offer free, impartial career information, advice, and guidance for people of all ages in secondary schools, centres and community venues across Scotland.
On Friday 3 May, SDS is moving to a new, more central venue in Brandon House Business Centre on Brandon Street alongside South Lanarkshire Council. Customers will be able to meet an adviser there Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9am-5pm.
As part of the change, the team will move out of the careers centre in Princes Gate on Castle Street on Friday 19 April. Between these dates, SDS advisers will be available for telephone appointments on 01698 477120.
Shona Mitchell, SDS Head of Operations South explains: “Our team in Hamilton will continue to provide professionally qualified careers advice in our new home in the Brandon House Business Centre. Brandon House is a modern and accessible location and while it’s just a short distance away from our current base, it’s more centrally located and closer to public transport links. We’re excited at the prospect of continuing to deliver exceptional levels of service to residents in Hamilton and the surrounding area.
"Our partners, Routes to Work South (RTWS), who are currently based alongside us in Princes Gate, are also moving to Brandon House. This means customers can continue to benefit from the knowledge and expertise of both organisations under one roof and we’re delighted to be able to continue this partnership.”
Douglas Hashagen, Employability Manager, South Lanarkshire Council added: “South Lanarkshire Council and SDS work closely together along with local employability partners to provide employability support, advice and guidance to local residents. SDS’s move to Brandon House will see the continuation of accessible advice and guidance to local people in Hamilton to they get the support they need.”
SDS advisers work across the country supporting anyone looking to get into work, change career, upskill or reskill, or re-join the workforce after a career break.
