SDS Headlines Belladrum Music Festival

Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is “headlining” the Boffinarium attraction at the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival this year.

Festival goers will be able to experience augmented and virtual reality first-hand, walk through a 30-foot replica of the human heart, get busy building with giant Meccano, design a wind turbine, use electronic microscopes to get up close and personal with nature, and take part in hi-tech scavenger hunts.

The new dedicated space at the family-friendly event (which takes place from the 25-27 July 2024) will see SDS join forces with Aberdeen-based charity Techfest, the Glasgow Science Centre, the Science Skills Academy and UHI to deliver a range of interactive and fun STEM activities, designed to inspire young people and their families about science and tech jobs.

Professional careers experts from SDS will also be on-site during the three-day festival to chat to attendees about skills, training and education. Anthony Standing, Head of North Region for SDS, said: “We are thrilled to be involved in the Boffinarium again this his year. Belladrum is a special event for us, and we love connecting with young people and their families in a new and unexpected way.

“The theme of this year’s festival is love and we want to get people thinking about what they love to do and inspire them into a career that will give them enjoyment for the rest of their lives.”
