Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is changing location as part of a drive to help more people through partnership working in community venues.
SDS advisers offer free, impartial career information, advice, and guidance for people of all ages in secondary schools, centres and community venues across Scotland.
SDS is moving to a new venue in the Dumfries campus of Dumfries and Galloway College on Monday 8 July. Customers will be able to meet an adviser there by appointment, Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.
Customers can also meet the team in community venues in Dumfries, Annan and Sanquhar.
As part of this change, the team will move out of the careers centre at Loreburne Centre on the High Street on Wednesday 3 July.
Shona Mitchell, SDS Head of Operations South explains: “Our advisers support people of any age looking to get into work, change career, upskill or reskill, or re-join the workforce after a career break.
“Our team in Dumfries will continue to provide professionally qualified careers advice in our new home in the Dumfries campus of Dumfries and Galloway College.
“The college is a modern and accessible location with good bus services and car parking. For those who don’t live nearby, we’re excited to be able to bring our offer to other towns within Dumfries and Galloway including Sanquhar and Annan. If customers give us a phone, our advisers will be able to discuss what option is best for them.
“We’re excited at the prospect of continuing to deliver exceptional levels of service to residents in Dumfries and the surrounding area.”
Douglas Dickson, Depute Principal at Dumfries and Galloway College said: "Dumfries and Galloway College eagerly anticipates further developing its existing collaborative ties with Skills Development Scotland as we welcome our SDS colleagues to our Dumfries campus.
"Skills Development Scotland brings invaluable support to Scotland's emerging industry professionals, and we are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to them and their new career service hub to our Dumfries Campus. We are confident that being based on the campus will further empower their impactful role within the Dumfries and Galloway community, nurturing growth and development."
We’ll be delivering services in the college from Monday 8 July 2024. Customers can contact the local SDS team on 01387 272500, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.
