Becoming the boss of my dreams!
Natalia gained valuable work experience as a Foundation Apprentice in the Skills Development Scotland Communications and Marketing team last year and has now moved on to study Marketing at Glasgow Caledonian University.
My name is Natalia Wodzinska and I worked with the Marketing and Communications team at Skills Development Scotland as a Foundation Apprentice in 2023.
Since finishing my Foundation Apprenticeship, a looooot has happened! I was accepted into my first-choice university and now I am studying International Marketing at Glasgow Caledonian University.
I have been offered way more job opportunities ever since I included the completion of the Foundation Apprenticeship into my CV, not only within the marketing industry but also 4* and 5* hotels. Currently, I am the supervisor of a restaurant as well as managing its promotional content.
I decided to undertake my Foundation Apprenticeship after a discussion with my high school teachers. I had mixed career ideas which I wanted to pursue in the future, so I was very open to new experiences, however marketing was at the top of my choices hence why I found this Foundation Apprenticeship so enjoyable.
During my Foundation Apprenticeship, I gained experience of an office job while also getting to know new, interesting people. I completed interviews and group projects which helped me gain confidence during big events.
When starting my Foundation Apprenticeship, I have to say I was quite anxious about the people I was going to work with, however they turned out to be the opposite of my negative portrayal of people who work in the office and actually made me want to work in an office if the atmosphere was going to be similar to that of SDS!
I will forever be grateful for the SDS team for always believing in me and shaping me into a much more open and confident person. Not only that, but they also allowed me to participate in different activities to help me get an idea of what career I am more leaning towards.
