New location for the career service in Kirkcaldy
Residents in Kirkcaldy are set to benefit from changes to the career service
Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is changing location as part of a drive to help more people through partnership working in community venues.
SDS advisers offer free, impartial career information, advice, and guidance for people of all ages in secondary schools, centres and community venues across Scotland.
From Monday 7 October, SDS careers advisers will be available in two new venues across the town: Templehall Community Centre in Beauly Place and the Independent Living Advice Hub on Kirkcaldy High Street.
Customers will be able to call the team to make an appointment.
As part of this change, the team will move out of the career centre on Whytescauseway in Kirkcaldy on Friday 4 October.
Co-location in partner premises brings the benefit of cost savings and enables SDS to increasingly deliver career services in more convenient locations for customers. The move supports the need to deliver value for money and efficiencies for investment in public services.
Suzanne Steel, SDS Team Leader explains: “Our team in Kirkcaldy will continue to provide professionally qualified careers advice in our new venues and we’re excited to be able to bring our offer to other parts of the town by making use of local community venues. If customers give us a phone on 01592 645 180, we’ll be able to discuss what option is best for them.”
Our advisers support people of any age looking to get into work, change career, upskill or reskill, or re-join the workforce after a career break.

Ewan Heeles, Fife Council Lead Officer said: “We are delighted to welcome SDS advisers into our Templehall Community Centre. We currently have a wide variety of groups already using the centre and the addition of careers guidance support will be great for our community.
“With the proposed new Templehall Community Hub on the horizon, this is an exciting time for the area and the community. We are really looking to build on our existing partnership working and opening more opportunities like this which will be beneficial to the community. This is part of the vision of what the Hub is going to be offering.”
Suzanne Steele added: “We’ll be delivering services in our new venues from Monday 7 October 2024. Customers can contact the local SDS team on 01592 645 180, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm to make an appointment.”
