Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is changing location as part of a drive to help more people through closer partnership working.

SDS advisers offer free, impartial career information, advice and guidance for people of all ages in secondary schools, centres and community venues across Scotland.

From Tuesday 4 March, SDS will be available in a new venue at 1-3 Kirk Street, Peterhead alongside local charity Aberdeen Foyer.

As part of this change, the team will move out of the careers centre on Marischal Street on Tuesday 25 February. On Friday 28 February and Monday 3 March, SDS advisers will be available for telephone appointments on 01779 479345.

Opening days and hours will remain the same with customers able to meet an adviser there on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, 9.00am - 12.30pm and 1.30pm - 5.00pm.

Nicola Graham, SDS Area Manager explains: "Our team in Peterhead will continue to provide professionally qualified careers advice in our new home alongside the team from Aberdeen Foyer. The Foyer site on Kirk Street is in a central and accessible location, just a short distance away from our current base with good public transport links."

We want customers to be able to access our services as easily as possible. This move will make a big difference; opening up our services to a wider range of customers and simplifying referrals between the two organisations. We’re very pleased to be building on such a strong existing partnership; one which will only benefit our shared customers

SDS Area Manager

Anne Kain, Head of Service at Aberdeen Foyer added: “Aberdeen Foyer is delighted to welcome Skills Development Scotland to our Kirk Street site in Peterhead. We have worked in close partnership for many years, supporting individuals to develop their confidence, skills, and opportunities for a positive future.

“Co-locating our services will strengthen our ability to provide seamless, person-centred support, ensuring people can easily access the right guidance at the right time. By bringing our teams together under one roof, we can offer a more joined-up approach to employability and career development, helping individuals to take their next steps towards learning, training, or work.”

Customers will also be able to continue to meet the SDS careers team from other local community venues, such as Banff Library, Banff Town House, Fraserburgh Library, the Gateway Community Education Centre in Turiff, and the Ellon Community Campus in Ellon. This is in addition to a number of venues across Aberdeenshire.

SDS advisers work across the country supporting anyone looking to get into work, change career, upskill or reskill, or re-join the workforce after a career break.

Customers can contact the local SDS team on 01779 479345, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.
