Lesson Starters and Finishers

Lesson starters and lesson finishers have been developed to support practitioners increase the visibility of meta-skills within teaching and learning.  

They provide opportunities to engage learners in meaningful discussions about their meta-skills development and start to make connections between learning experiences and the world of work. 

Lesson Starter 

This editable PowerPoint template can be used by practitioners at the start of a lesson to share learning intentions and success criteria as well as providing an opportunity to explicitly bring into focus the meta-skills that will be used/developed.

Lesson Finisher 

This editable PowerPoint template can be used by practitioners at the end of a lesson to recap on what has been learned and provides an opportunity for learners to discuss and reflect the meta-skills they have used/developed. Adding related job profiles can further contextualise the learning.
