Forestry
Inside Scotland's Forestry sector

19% of land in Scotland is covered in forest, including commercial plantations, mixed woodlands, urban forests and even rainforests.
Over 25,000 people in Scotland are employed in maintaining, managing, harvesting and expanding these forests.
Work is underway to expand Scotland’s forests with more people needed in everything from hands on planting, specialist crafts like fencing, machine operators for felling, through to roles in environmental science, data and economics.
The following videos were recorded during the SDS Sector LMI sessions running during January - June 2024.
